>From the South Texas Balloon Launch Team:
We launch most of the time from Matzke Park, in NW Houston, just West of Willow Brook mall a ways.
If you want to stay in touch with what’s happening on these, here’s a shameless plug for the mail reflectors you can join for this, and many other ham related topics. 😊
Ham Radio Tech Notes, main at Ham-Radio-Tech-Notes.groups.io | Home <https://ham-radio-tech-notes.groups.io/g/main> check out some of the previous messages there.
And
Balloon Launch Team, BLT at groups.io | Topics <https://groups.io/g/BLT/topics> this is the South Texas Balloon Launch Team reflector.
We have a couple more trackers that are being built up this week, and if the winds will ever calm down, we hope to get a couple more up within the week.
These next ones will be transmitting on WSPR, but data piped into the APRS network to help with tracking.
We also LIVE stream these launches on my Zoom channel, so if you’re on one of the reflectors above, you can watch it that way as well, as well as see all the tracking details for each launch.
And if you would like to come watch the launch in person, it would be fantastic to have you join us.
Typically, launch time is 10am on whatever date it happens, as the winds are usually much more calm at that time.
Feel free to ping me direct if you want any deeper details on this. walterh at k5wh.net <mailto:walterh at k5wh.net>
We currently have 3 balloons in the air traveling the globe as I type.
The K5WH-88 balloon was launched on 3/31, and still transmitting each day the sun is up. It’s been around the planet once, and now working on it’s second trip, and doing some crazy loops right now.

For those that have been watching the status of the balloon we launched for the Greater Houston Tailgate event, after being silent for a few days, it is now lit up again and squawking nicely, holding around 39,000 feet.
Blazing across China at the moment.
