Fellow Hams,

I have decided to postpone the next Thursday Night Net to March 25. Our meeting time conflicts on with the TX DX Society program indicated below, on Smith Charts, which I believe will be a terrific and very important program for hams to attend, and a program we wish to support. I know this Zoom program on the 18th will be excellent.

For those studying for their Extra Class Licenses, Smith Charts appear in at least 11 possible questions, and are important to understand. Understanding Smith Charts is important to getting the most of a NanoVNA antenna analyzer, which are suddenly so popular.

Join us again on March 25 for the Simplex Net at its regular time, 7 pm, when we will meet up on the 146.940 repeater, and proceed to a simplex frequency at that time. A website is currently under development, along with procedures and relay staff. Our group will tentatively be called the Greater Houston Simplex Net. The aim of the GHSN is to establish and practice procedures to maintain ham communications during the worst of general communication losses. Please join us on the 25th.

The Smith Chart is a graphical tool that has been around since the 1930s and is a great way to understand transmission lines and many other RF design issues. Since the real Smith Chart is actually a graph and we don't use those much anymore, he will use an electronic version for the demonstrations called SimSmith by Ward AE6TY. This is a great tool.
